About

I started Open Sky Ileas, llc in 2012. My specialties are identity, collateral design and illustration. Having my own company has provided amazing opportunities to guide clients through many different types of projects. I can get it done. And if I can’t, I have friends that can help.

My agency experience has been in Nashville, and it was very important to establish an efficient / quality-based approach to my work. I know what it is to balance five deadlines at a time – while still providing great products.

I’ve also been a part of corporate design departments during my time in Denver. This was foundational in establishing my emphasis on consistent design and the importance of streamlined teamwork. Read a few testimonials here.

My Background

I can think of at least two teachers that predicted a career in art for me – the first in 3rd grade. I shrugged it off as I dreamed of becoming an NPS park ranger. The love of the outdoors has continued to grow well after my graphic design path started. In fact, if I’m not sitting at this computer or spending time with my family, I’m likely on the trail (hiking or mountain biking). It’s where I recharge.

I met my wife April in 1995 while scooping ice cream and serving breakfast muffins and coffee at Old Faithful Lodge. We met in Wyoming while we were both attending The University of Georgia. We are blessed with three amazing children, and live south of Nashville. We are members at Thompson Station Church. We have also been on a 12-year health journey for April (click here to visit her site and learn more).
